Aave V4 Arc Market Sees Low Borrowing Despite High Deposits

The newly launched Aave V4 Arc market experienced a significant influx of USDC deposits shortly after its activation on September 16th, accumulating approximately $76 million. However, this substantial liquidity has seen very little uptake from borrowers, with less than $100,000 being borrowed, resulting in an extremely low utilization rate of around 0.1%.

This scenario highlights a disconnect between deposited capital and its active use within the Aave V4 ecosystem on the Arc Layer-1 network. Initial capacity limits for the Arc Main Spoke, set at 56 million USDC for deposits and 51 million USDC for borrowing, were quickly met on the supply side. A governance proposal was made to increase the deposit cap to 150 million USDC, suggesting demand for supplying assets exceeded initial expectations.

The low borrowing activity raises questions about the market's current utility for traders and protocols seeking to leverage these funds. Aave's interest rate model, which adjusts rates based on utilization, implies that such abundance of capital with low borrowing will result in minimal yields for depositors. This situation means that while Aave V4 on Arc has attracted substantial capital, its effectiveness in facilitating active lending and borrowing remains to be seen.
